Academic Integrity: Consequences

Title

Consequences

When a faculty member has reason to believe that a violation of the Student Conduct Code with respect to Academic Honesty has occurred, the faculty member will submit an incident report to the Chief Academic Officer, who will notify the Office of Records & Registration to place an academic hold on the student record. The hold will prevent the student from withdrawing from the course during the investigative process. For details regarding acts of academic dishonesty, student conduct proceedings, and sanctioning, see the Student Conduct Code online at garrettcollege.edu/policy. -Taken from the Academic Regulations section of the Garrett College Catalog

It is essential to understand that our actions have consequences. At Garrett College, academic dishonesty could be addressed by any of the following consequences:

  • failing an assignment / exam;
  • failing a class;
  • disciplinary action according to the Student Code of Conduct;
  • potential dismissal from the College;
  • permanent notation on your academic record.
