COM 101: Introduction to Communication: Online Etiquette

Online Etiquette

Online etiquette, also known as netiquette, is the etiquette or social rules that govern electronic forms of communication. This differs from your everyday texting tone you use with your friends because it tends to be more formal in nature. In a scholarly environment, electronic communication (email, discussion board posts, chats, ect.) should be professional. It is expected in these communications to have correct spelling, proper grammar, capitalization, and complete sentences.

Subject: Question about Class Assignment

Dear Professor Johnson,

Hi, my name is Mary Smith, and I am in your BIO 101-02 class. I have a question about the quiz due tomorrow. You said we would be able to access the quiz as early as yesterday morning. I found the link to the quiz, but it says “access denied” when I try to click on it. What should I do?

Thank you,

Mary Smith
