Advising & How To Register

During your advising appointment, your Academic Advisor will help you choose appropriate classes for your first semester at Garrett College. You will then self-register for those courses on the Student Portal.

  1. Complete the New Student Data Sheet on the MyGarrett Portal.
  2. Look at the Program Sheet and Recommended Sequence from the College Catalog (beginning on page 54) for your desired major. Your advisor will help you determine which courses in the sequence you are eligible to take at your placement level.
  3. If you have some college credits already (transfer, HSDE, AP), look at your Advising Worksheet on the MyGarrett Portal to see how these credits apply to your program.
  4. Complete the Registration Agreement and Personal Information Update forms on the MyGarrett Portal
  5. Draft your selections from the Course Schedule on the MyGarrett Portal on a blank piece of paper. Once you have a schedule on paper, your advisor will grant you Registration Clearance so you may self-register for your selected classes on the MyGarrett Portal
