Tutoring services open January 27, close May 9, and are closed President's Day (February 17), Spring Break Week (March 15-23), and Good Friday (April 18).
The Tutoring Center is delayed/closed any time the college closes for weather-related or other delays/closings. WIRED tutoring may occur during college closures.
Pay rate for student tutors for the Spring 2025 semester is, $15 per hour. Pay rate for non-student tutors is based on experience and education.
Depending on availability, preference, and subjects, most tutors can expect to work between 2-8 hours per week.
Tutoring services may change at any point during the semester. The director welcomes suggestions!
During the Fall 2024 semester, tutoring will continue to include a variety of flexible tutoring options. Students may access tutoring in any of the following ways:
LIVE - Visit the walk-in Tutoring Center located in the Learning Commons.
WIRED - Call the Tutoring Center 'hotline' during operating hours. Connect with a live GC tutor individually during virtual hours by phone, email, instant chat (Teams), video chat (Teams), text message.
STANDBY - Access NetTutor online tutoring through the AASC Student Resources course on Blackboard. Visit one of the many online 'self-help' resources through the AASC Student Resources course on Blackboard. Ask for help by using the 'Connect With Us' link on the college website.
The director will work with individual tutors to determine what levels of communication and access they are comfortable with. All tutoring details will be communicated to students through the AASC Student Resources Blackboard course (i.e. individual phone numbers will not be posted to the college website or printed on posters).
