Sampling Bias

This section addresses the important issues that should be considered when collecting data.

Vocabulary

Population - all of the individuals or objects of interest.

Sample - a subset of the population.

Statistical Inference - using data from a sample to determine information about a population.

Sampling Bias - when the method of selecting a sample causes the sample to differ from the population in some way.

Simple Random Sample - all groups in the population have the same chance of becoming the sample.
